| Annual or perennial. Flowers bisexual,
actinomorphic, often heterostylic, 5-merous. Petals
united below, forming a rotate, campanulate or
funnel-shaped corolla. Stamens inserted on the petal
tube, opposite its lobes. Ovary superior, perigynous or
inferior, 1-locular, with free-central placentation;
